Youth Developmental Sports League Volunteer

With Playworks’ Coach services, Coaches run after school developmental sports leagues for six week periods during the fall and spring semesters. We need volunteers to serve as assistant coaches for those leagues, supporting students skill development in a given sport that builds confidence and self-esteem.

How you help Playworks’ programming takes a proactive approach to ensuring all children have access to daily vigorous physical activity, learn the value of an active lifestyle, and build habits that contribute to lifelong health. When volunteers share their time with us, they not only get to experience all the positive benefits of play but they also provide our students with a positive adult interaction that builds their confidence, self-esteem, and builds a strong foundation of positive decision making/goal setting as they think about their future.
About us Playworks’ evidenced based services have shown to have a statistically significant impact on children’s social emotional health and their physical health. This leads to more focus, less conflict, and an overall more positive school climate for all children. Playworks delivers three critical levels of impact for schools: 1) Supports students in the development of key social-emotional (SEL) skills, such as self-control, empathy, self-regulation, and treating others with respect; 2) Increases physical activity, helping to mitigate stress and anxiety and increases ability to focus and learn;3) Positively impacts school climate by decreasing bullying, creating inclusive environments, and increasing students’ feelings of safety.
